Capacity Building
What is it?The Capacity Building Initiative (CBI) is a three year, comprehensive program that provides support through grants, one-on-one training, networking, and tailored technical assistance to increase operational and programmatic effectiveness of watershed organizations and Riverkeepers. The Capacity Building Initiative will be bolstered by the establishment of a new network of watershed organizations organized by the Funders Network. Outcomes of the program include: - Sustainable Watershed Organizations - Strong Watershed Network - Measurable Change for the Bay Watershed organizations play a vital role in the Chesapeake Bay restoration. Well established organizations have proven themselves leaders in increasing awareness on issues, advocating sound policies, procuring resources for restoration, and implementing restoration and protection programs. What's NewCAPACITY BUILDING INITIATIVE COMMUNICATIONS TRAININGOn July 17th, 40 participants in the Chesapeake Bay Funders Network Capacity Building Initiative attended a training to increase the effectiveness of their communications strategy and techniques. This is the second training in a series of trainings offered over three years targeting the specific organizational development needs of participating groups. The training was developed and facilitated by Eric Eckl, Water Words That Work, and was held at the Gari Melchers Studio in Fredericksburg, VA. It provided in-depth review of communications strategies, best practices, and new and old tactics via presentations and highly interactive group exercises.
